Want some hot fresh bread?

Do you feel desperate for the Word of God these days? How ’bout some hot fresh bread?

I do! Recently, I stopped on this verse to chew on it.

John 15: 7 NLT But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!

Powerful verse! Wow!

I’ve learned the importance of digesting Scripture. We understand that only what our body digest nourishes our bodies. That is also true spiritually as well. If I don’t digest the Word of God it doesn’t nurture my spirit.

You need to nourish your spirit like you nourish your body eating hot fresh bread!!

What I call nourishment is referred to here as “remain in me.”

When my granddaughter was little, she found a flower outside, picked it and brought it to me. I thanked her and she laid it on the counter, then went back outside. Later, she came back to find it had wilted.

When she found the wilted flower she commented, “Nana, look the flower is wilted. That flower is just like us. When we don’t read the Bible and pray, we wilt too!”

She was so right!!

It takes relational processes for us to remain in Him

…relational processes like prayer and Bible study.

When we were packing to move to Jacksonville, bread machines came onto the market. My kids love homemade bread so they begged me to buy one. I’m tight with my money, so I explained they were already eating plenty of bread. Besides that, I probably wouldn’t use it anyway.

When they continued to ask for a bread machine, I made a deal with them. If they helped us make the move without complaining I would buy a bread machine.

Well, they did and I did.

I was wrong about not using that bread machine. I made bread almost every day. Sometimes several times in one day.

But another thing happened.

It turned us into monsters. No one wanted to eat cold bread. We all wanted the fresh, hot bread that produced a fragrance that filled the house.

When the bread machine bell signaled that the bread was ready, we all rushed into the kitchen. No one wanted to wait to get to the table. We sliced it in the kitchen and gobbled a slice on our way to the table.

I shared that story, because it so important that you remember

God has fresh bread for you!

Fresh revelation.

Fresh answers for you in your situation.

New secrets to share.

His Word is powerful.

I don’t know how God’s Word nourishes our spirits anymore than I understand how roast beef and hot fresh bread nourishes our body, but it does.

His Word changes our attitudes.

I don’t have to tell my husband that I haven’t had time to pray or that I haven’t been in the Word…he can tell.

So I make it a priority.

What about you…ever experienced that hangry feeling that comes when you haven’t eaten?

Could there be another source from hangry attitudes?

If you’ve listened to my 21 Day Think God’s Way, you know that emotions don’t have a driver’s license to drive your emotions.

But I also know that when we remain in God’s Love it calms our emotions.

We all could use some of that these days.
