The last scrap of meat has been carved off the end of the ham bone. The last deviled egg was gobbled, so the plate could be washed. All that’s left of Easter is the two malted milk ball eggs in the bottom of the bag that the kids didn’t find.
It’s almost the end of another work week, so life has shifted into normal and we go on with life as usual. We are officially done with Easter and ready for the next holiday!…Really? Really?
That’s pretty much what the disciples did in the first few days after the resurrection.
Look at Mark 16:11-13 “But when she told them that Jesus was alive and she had seen him, they didn’t believe her. Afterward he appeared in a different form to two of his followers who were walking from Jerusalem into the country. They rushed back to tell the others, but no one believed them.”
They heard the words, but they believed what they saw.
Weighted down with grief, turmoil and unbelief; they moved back into normal life without Jesus.
A tragic picture, yet it is a description that fits way too many people that left church last weekend. They heard the story. They went home. Laughed at their kids finding Easter eggs and Monday morning moved back into normal life without Jesus.
Oh, yes, we all heard the story–again–for the hundredth time!
Yes, the preacher was all excited. The music was exhilarating! But Monday comes and so does the bills and runny noses and flat tires and all the stuff that makes a life.
Somehow the message of the risen Savior gets left at church or buried under a pile of dirty laundry and getting kids off to school.
Jesus didn’t die on the cross and come back to life for us to live normal, ordinary lives. He came to give us abundant life. John 10:10 He came to give us a life of purpose, direction and fullness…a life of relationship with Him.
In Mark 16:14 Jesus reprimanded the disciples, not the world, but the disciples for their unbelief. They could not fulfill their life purpose until they believed. They had to take the word they heard and mix it with faith.
Until you mix the Word with faith nothing happens and your life will be normal.
Instead of choosing unbelief, choose to:
- … believe God’s Word in your circumstances, in your situation.
- … to take the reality of a Risen Savior home with you!
- … to take His truth and mix it with faith for your situation.
- … to take Jesus with you into your world so you can be a bright and shining light.
- … to fulfill your purpose and become an agent of change in your world through the power that comes through that life that is in you as a believer.
Romans 6:4 nlt
For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives https://www.biblestudytools.com/nlt/romans/6-4.html
Romans 7:4 nlt
So this is the point: The law no longer holds you in its power, because you died to its power when you died with Christ on the cross. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, you can produce good fruit, that is, good deeds for God. https://www.biblestudytools.com/nlt/romans/7-4.html
Romans 8:11nlt
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. https://bible.cc/romans/8-11.htm
Is resurrection truth a reality in your life?
