What we don’t know is hurting us- everyday single day!
What we don’t know is destroying our culture.
It causes us to make wrong decisions.
It’s hurting our homes, our children.
It affects our jobs, our attitudes…everything we do.
What we don’t know is destroying our culture and sending people to Hell.
That’s a scary thought!
What is it we don’t know?
The Truth!
Not someone’s opinion, but Truth. Ever heard someone say, “I know what the Bible says, but I think….”-and then they finish the statement with their opinion which is in complete contradiction to God’s Word. They have swallowed the poison!
What’s happened that we think we know more than God?
We are too much like an oyster .
I’m not referring to their ability to produce pearls. I’m referring to their eating habits. Oysters are filter feeders. That means they eat whatever flows into their shell. Absolutely anything. They have no ability to choose what they eat. And some of the stuff they take in is poisonous. And like the oyster, too many people accept what ever they hear, see or read without using the right filter.
And it’s poisoning them.
Poison?
Worst than food poisoning, and that is absolutely horrible, is what happens to people that feed off the poison of Hell. That may sound a little dramatic, but it’s true. It’s just that the poison can be almost undetectable when absorbed in small doses. Undetectable… until it kills you.
What do I mean?
It happens when we believe the voice of the culture around us without questioning what is said. We hear the same thing repeated and lived out so many times, we begin to believe it. Then we accept the norm for truth. Just hearing something again and again, doesn’t make it true.
But when we begin to believe the lies or half truths, we are absorbing the poison. Our culture believes the picture Hollywood paints for us is the normal. And normal is acceptable. We accept normal for truth. We accept trends for our lifestyle and way of living. It’s fine if we’re talking about a trendy pair of shoes, but it’s destructive when it saturates and twists our belief system.
We must separate truth from fiction by sifting our beliefs through the sieve of the ONLY absolute truth- the Bible.
I haven’t forgotten my claim- The 15 Minute Habit that WILL Change Your Life…Honest! I realize that I’m making a gigantic claim…but it comes with a guarantee. That’s right a guarantee! Let me show you the guarantee first.
God’s Word always produces fruit.
It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. Isaiah 55:11 NLT
It has benefits.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 2 Timothy 3:16 Instead of “is useful” the King James version says “is profitable”. That means there are benefits.
You become who you surround yourself with.
You know it’s true. That’s why I’m intentionally hanging out with God more this year. And His favorite way to talk to me is the Bible. So I’m gonna read the Bible through again this year.
And I’m encouraging you to Read the Bible Through in One Year.
Here’s where the 15 minute habit comes in
If you read about 3 chapters a day, it will take you about 15 minutes, and if you do that you will read the entire Bible through in one year.
You can do it! Honest you can!
I can’t!
So my challenge is Read the Bible from cover to cover in one year.
You need the benefits of the 15 minute habit.
You can if…
- Make it a priority.
- Get a plan! An app, an audio or a chart.
- Set a time.
- Set a reward. No TV until I’ve read my Bible.
15 minutes…that’s all, just 15 minutes that will change you and change the way you think.
Don’t go back and try to catch up. Just start today.
One year from today you will have read the Bible through.
Will you join me on my trek through the pages of Scripture this year?
So grab your smoothie or jump on your treadmill and let’s start our day!
This is my smoothe this morning. Yum-O!
A whole orange, peeling and all, milk, Chia seeds, yeph the Chia Pet kind, (But you don’t have to buy the pet. They come in a bag); flax seed, oatmeal, apple juice, a few peach slices, frozen figs off my tree, and a half of a banana! Soooo delicious. And sipped while I eat the Word. What an awesome way to start my day!
Don’t forget to share with a friend! Thank you so much! I love you and I’m praying for you! Yeah! Just this morning!
