Rhonda did something that most people don’t do. Rhonda took action on her desire to have a closer relationship with God. One of the first things that changes when we want more of God is how we pray. Our prayer takes on a new sense of hunger and seriousness. It becomes more than words or a religious obligation. It becomes precious with God.
She prayed different.
Rhonda had a doctor’s appointment the next morning, so she prayed on the way there.
She prayed
- aloud,
- verses from the Bible.
- in her prayer language.
And she felt it.
I am so thankful that we can experience the manifest presence of God!!!!
She didn’t say this part, but from the results she testified about, I know, I KNOW, she mixed her prayer with faith.
It is time to pray big bold prayers.
I get it. There are some things that I am tired of praying about. I am so ready to see the breakthrough, to see my prodigals come home. To see the manifestations of healings that I am believing God to do in our midst, so He will be glorified. But as long as I have breath I am going to keep praying and believing God’s Word.
Big Challenges
I know that we are facing big situations in the world around us, but we serve a BIGGER God. Don’t back down because the enemy of your soul is trying to intimidate you.
Pray God’s Word boldly over your situation.
Speak in tongues until you have the wisdom to know how to pray in English. And when you can, pray out loud. You need to hear it!
Rhonda shares about her prayer time
“I imagine people thought me a bit “touched”…..I was touched all right. I touched the Hem of His Garment this morning for sure! I went into my appointment with power, confidence, all 3 people I dealt with today looked at me kinda funny……..I figured from being in the Throne Room for a bit with HIM, they could see it on me!
Rhonda, I believe they did see something different about you.
I love it!!! Don’t you love to see the presence of God on people. I crave His Presence on my life. And while I know that every believer is a carrier of the presence of God; we don’t always see the manifestation of Him. My cry is Lord manifest your presence in greater and greater ways that Your Glory will be seen in the Earth.
All kinds of prayer.
The Bible talks about lots of kinds of prayers. The effectiveness of our prayers are not measured by how we say our prayer or even how loud we say our prayer. But there are times, and in times like are living it, they are becoming more and more frequent, it’s just time to do what Rhonda did. When a prayer comes from a deep place in our heart or heaven’s heart it is often accompanied with
It’s not unbelief, it is a holy passion.
I don’t pray aloud because I don’t think God is listening, but sometimes the intensity of desperation and hungry burst like a flood from my spirit.
More to it than just hanging out!
But there’s more to this strategy of hanging out with the right people than just hanging out. King Jehoash is a great example, or maybe I should say a bad example.
It‘s impressive that the king would go to visit Elisha on his deathbed. It was much more than just a casual, perfunctory visit. King Jehoash weeps over Elisha.
Elisha. Elisha! Don’t you just love this man!
But Elisha had kingdom business on his mind. God was talking to him. He has a message from God for the king.
2 Kings 13:14-19 BSB
Now Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. “My father! My father!” he cried. “The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” (King Jehoash is quoting the exact words that Elisha spoke when the chariot of fire and horsemen arrived and the whirlwind took Elijah to heaven. Maybe it was one of the stories that Gehazi told King Jehoash.)
15 Elisha said, “Get a bow and some arrows,” and he did so. 16 “Take the bow in your hands,” he said to the king of Israel. When he had taken it, Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands. (With this prophetic act Elisha is reminding King Jehoash that God is going to help him fight this war with the Syrians.
17 “Open the east window,” he said, and he opened it. “Shoot!” Elisha said, and he shot. “The Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram!” Elisha declared. “You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.”
18 Then he said, “Take the arrows,” and the king took them. Elisha told him, “Strike the ground.” He struck it three times and stopped.
19 The man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will strike down Aram only three times.”
Where is King Jehoash’s spiritual passion?
Why doesn’t the king get excited that God said “You will completely destroy the Arameans.”
Maybe, it was because he believed what his natural eyes could see more than what God said.
When Jeremiah got a word from God, he said, “It is like fire in my bones.” When we value the things God says and trust Him we have a closer relationship with God.
It is so important that we esteem the word of God enough to believe and obey what He says.
John 14:15 reminds us “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”
Love and trust are essential components in your relationship with God.

God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?
God’s Word is powerful, creative, life-giving.
