So You Want to Be Heard
When you have something important to say…you want to be heard!
When you care about the people you’re talking to you want to invest in their lives…words is a way to invest in people.
But we can talk …we can say really important things without being heard!
Being heard is more than hearing words.
Being heard means you are understood. It means the words register on the ears and hearts of the intended audience.
That’s so important.
You can see it in their eyes. They have that glazed look and you know they’re going over their grocery list or what they’re gonna eat for lunch or whatever except what you’re saying. You know they’re not listening, much less learning from what you have to say.
How do we speak so the hearer really hears? How do we communicate more effectively?
And that’s a vital question to ask… because it’s the speaker’s responsibility, not the audience that has to change.
