The Vernon Kilns May Flower Vernonware Gravy Boat was a delighted addition to my Vernon Kilns May Flower plates from the 1940’s. While this set can be used all year round; but it is especially beautiful for Fall and Thanksgiving, especially since it uses brown and cranberry colors so beautifully!
I always look forward to the gravy at Thanksgiving, but it could be used for salad dressing anytime! (Even if you use bottled dressing, it taste better when you pour it from a beautiful dish! (At least, it does to me!) In the picture below I placed it on a solid bone tray to catch any drippings. It is so beautiful. I decided I would move it into the Complete Vernon Kilns table setting. Since I only found 1 it can only be purchased in the complete set. Here’s the link.
I love this pattern.
It looks like a bouquet you might gather in your hands as you walk along an old mountain road. There’s something soothing about thoughts like that. It could be mixed with solid colors, Wedgwood Conway Edme or Spode Copeland.
It amazes me that the pattern is bright and colorful after all this time. And did you see the handle on this piece? Even the details on the base are so pretty.
This piece is in really good condition, especially considering that it is somewhere around 80 years old. Please look at the pictures they are part of the description. No chips, cracks or glazing!
